Green Line - Conservatory Revised: 2001/12 3630 W. Lake Street, Chicago IL 60624. 06/30/01 New Green Line station opens on Lake at Conservatory. Press Release. Construction at this site: The dismantling and demolition of both the inbound and outbound stationhouses, platforms and support steel at the Homan Avenue site. The historically significant items are to be removed from the site and refurbished for incorporation in the construction of an ADA compliant and modernized station at the Conservatory location. The new station will include: platform, canopy, kiosk, lighting, elevators, communication, public address, and HVAC systems. Work completed during the last three months: All major construction work was completed by 6/27/01. Completed wood floor installation. Installed ornamental railing on platform and lights on platform and all stairways. Installed sidewalks and sod. Station Grand Opening held on Saturday, June 30, 2001. Work to be performed in the near future: Contractor is expected to complete remaining punch list by the end of 2001. |

Green Line - Garfield/55th Revised: 2001/12 320 E. Garfield Boulevard, Chicago IL 60637. Construction at this site: Removal of underground storage tanks. New masonry station house on north side of Garfield Boulevard, which includes: platform, canopy, kiosk, lighting, electrical room, escalator, communication, public address, HVAC systems, and two new elevators to make station ADA accessible. Restore existing station house. Remove existing platform, canopy, stairs, fare control equipment, and kiosk. Work completed during the last three months: All major construction work was completed by 6/24/01. Completed escalator, elevator, electrical and communications. Installed AV signs and PA speakers in station and on platforms. Old platform and stairs removed. Work to be performed in the near future: Contractor is expected to complete remaining punch list by the end of 2001. |

Green Line - Indiana Revised: 2001/12 4003 S. Indiana Avenue, Chicago IL 60653. Construction at this site: New masonry station house on eastside of Indiana Avenue, which includes: kiosk, lighting, HVAC systems, and two new elevators to make station handicapped accessible. Modify existing station area as a new station exit. Remove existing kiosk, fence, gates, and fare control equipment. Install new wrought iron fence. Station wide improvements to the public address system. Work completed during the last three months: All major construction work was completed by 12/29/00. Contractor has completed the punch list. Station opened for passenger use on March 20, 2001. Work to be performed in the near future: All work is complete. |

![]() June 2001: Station opening ceremony. The CTA recently celebrated the renovation of the Lake/Pulaski station on the Green Line. The rehabbed station features new station houses, concrete floors and glass walls. New canopies over the platform include overhead heaters to protect customers from bad weather. Each of the station houses has a new elevator, stairway, audio-visual signage, improved lighting and fare control equipment and wheelchair-accessible turnstiles, making the station ADA compliant. There is also a new Customer Assistant kiosk and supervisor's booth. Pictured at the ribbon-cutting ceremony from left to right are: CTA President Frank Kruesi, 28th Ward Alderman Ed Smith, Mayor Richard M. Daley, CTA Board President Valerie B. Jarrett and Executive Director of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities David Hanson. Construction at this site: Alterations to the existing station including construction of new inbound and outbound fare control areas as well as stairs and elevators to service these areas. Additionally, support rooms will be built on the inbound side of the structure. Public address and signage improvements as well as other electrical and mechanical modifications will be installed. Work completed during the last three months: All major construction work was completed by 5/3/01. Contractor has been working on the punch list. Station Grand Opening on Saturday, June 2, 2001. Work to be performed in the near future: Contractor is expected to complete remaining punch list by the end of 2001. |
